we Have dogs waiting to come into rescue
Every day we receive notices, phone calls or emails about German Shepherds and Shepherd crosses needing help! RIGHT NOW!
There are so many dogs needing rescue from one situation or another...unwanted, abandoned, abused, discarded, in desperate situations. Adults, puppies, seniors.... it is truly heartbreaking! Our rescue relies entirely upon our fosters, without fosters we can't save dogs! Please consider opening your home to a foster dog! Here is some information to help you decide if fostering might be right for you! |
Becoming a foster home is simple. Contact us and someone will come and meet you at your home, go over the paperwork and address any concerns/questions. We discuss which dogs may be suitable in your home based on lifestyle, other pets and some dogs' special requirements.
MASR covers all expenses. We supply food, crate, leash & collar, bowls and any medical costs. Occasionally we request the dog be entered in an obedience class, the costs are covered by our rescue.
The time a dog is in our care varies. Some dogs are adopted quite quickly and others remain in our care far longer. We have long term fosters and short term fosters. Both are very valued!
Most of our fosters live in or near Winnipeg but we also have fosters who live a distance away. The out-of-town fosters are used as safe spaces for our dogs to go until we can move the dogs closer for potential adopters to meet them.
Fostering commitments vary. Some families foster continuously and some foster for one or two dogs only. All we require is that each dog fostered be treated responsibly with kindness and love while in your care.
PLEASE consider fostering one of our beautiful dogs! We always have dogs that are suitable for any home! We have adult, puppy and senior dogs always needing our help!

To My foster family
There I sat, alone and afraid,
You got a call and came right to my aid. You bundled me up with blankets and love. And when I needed it most, you gave me a hug. learned that the world was not all that scary and cold. That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold. You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend. You loved me and healed me and became my first friend. And just when I thought you'd done all you do, There came along not one new lesson but two. First you said, "Sweetheart you're ready to go. I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know." Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss. Along came a new family, they even have kids! They took me to their home, forever to stay. At first I thought that you sent me away. Then that second lesson became perfectly clear. No matter how far you will always be near. And so, Foster Family, you know I've moved on. I have a new home, with toys and a lawn. But I'll never forget what I learned that first day. You never really give your fosters away. You gave me these thoughts to remember you by. We may never meet again, and now I know why. You'll remember I lived with you for a time. I may not be yours but you'll always be mine. ~ Author unknown |
